Being an avid lover of Libraries, I have always found a visit to the Library a very therapeutic experience when feeling dragged down with what seems like the mundane and everyday chores of life have gotten to me.
Some years ago, I worked as a public relations and publicity director at the Cleveland Public Library in Ohio. Recently, in one of my journals, I came across a few memoirs I had written during that time, about Libraries in general.
I realized suddenly today how much these words pertain to our wonderful Blake Library here in Stuart, with it cooperative, efficient and helpful staff, willing to assist one with any information he or she might need or want. What else could one ask for, while sitting on the benches, with all of the plants, bushes and flowers, lending a special ambiance to the garden area.
All Libraries offer a valuable shelter to protect us from our tensions and pressures that come from the outside world on a daily basis. When you feel beaten down and nearly torn apart about life in general, you can visit the Library and will be able to find a book, or tape that understands your present feelings and often offer some suggestions and methods for healing of your mind, body and soul.
The Library is a Haven for our collective sanity, a sanity which is often stretched out of shape by the frustrations and anxieties we are forced to accept in our daily lives. Today, I suggest you drop everything that is really of little or no importance and hastily go and visit, or even spend the afternoon at the Blake Library in Stuart. It is truly a Library Haven? And I think you will be thankful you made the decision to wander yonder?
